Big AL's Speakeasy Jazz Band

A "speakeasy" was an establishment for selling and drinking alcoholic beverages during the period of US history known as Prohibition (1920-1933), when alcoholic beverages were illegal.  To avoid raising suspicion about the illegal existence of a speakeasy, bartenders would tell their customers to "speak easy" about its location.  Speakeasies became very popular during Prohibition and often evolved into elaborate nightclubs, offering food, floor shows and most importantly, the hottest jazz bands!

Big AL's SPEAKEASY JAZZ BAND is a group of either five or eight professional and semi-professional musicians from the Dayton area.  We are dedicated to recreating the exciting music of the Classic Jazz Age--the Dixieland and Swing eras of the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s--when jazz was America's popular music.  People didn't just listen to jazz; they danced to it too!

We are available to play throughout the southwestern Ohio area for any job from a small, private party to a large, public festival.
